Whilst in Sierra Leone working for the charity Street Child, Alie Sesay often engaged with street children and Ebola orphans in sporting and recreational activities, to help them deal with the trauma of losing their parents and living on the street.
We believe that with just a few hours of sporting activities each week, children and young people are given a platform to play, become winners, feel important, work as a team, make friends and share their stories with a trusted adult. Through this, we can give those children living on the STREETS a way to come together through SPORTS, changing their lives and giving them HOPE for the future.
Our vision is that every CHILD should have a childhood with all the RIGHTS that every CHILD deserves.
It is our goal that every child receives these 5 basic rights:
- To have time to PLAY
- To have enough food to EAT
- To receive an EDUCATION
- To receive an appropriate level of MEDICAL CARE
- Not to be exploited and to receive an acceptable level of CHILD PROTECTION
Core Values
At Street Sports Hope our aim is to offer hope to the street children of Sierra Leone, many of whom are not being educated and have little or no time for sport and other activities. It is our goal that:
- Every child to be allowed to EXPRESS themselves in a sporting and educational environment
- Every child to have access to FOOD and clean water as a right, NOT a wish
- All boys and girls to be given an EQUAL right to education
- No child should have to die from a PREVENTABLE disease
- Children should have time to ENJOY sports and hobbies, NOT have to work
