One of the biggest post Ebola effects on children is malnutrition. Street Sports Hope social workers come across numerous cases of malnutrition on their visits to local communities. In cases where the bread winner of the family has died, leaving a widow with, say, 7 children; that widow may now only be able to afford to give her children one meal a day.
The Street Sports Hope Food Bank is in place to offer emergency food and provisions to families in situations where children are at severe risk of starvation. In such cases we would provide a week’s supply of nutritional food, whilst working out with the carer a longer-term sustainable solution for the family.
